» CMartinez - Catholicism vs Methodism

HI, I am a new member and I have a question that I would love someone to answer and as quickly as possible if you could. I am a Catholic (merely because my parents led me to this religion), and I have always wanted to know what the principle beliefs were of Methodists as well as what the differences between Methodism and Catholicism were. If someone could answer this as completely as possible I would sincerely appreciate it. Thanks for your time.

CMartinez, Welcome.

I moved your question to its own thread. I'm checking in here late and am too sleepy to formulate an answer now. I'll share this thread with others at the Suite and maybe we'll get you an answer.

Ok, I can help you, as a newly confirmednd Methodist going to a Catholic school. So, to list a few. One would be the difference between the Eucharistst and Communionon, the Eucharistst,(as you probably know supposably turns into Jesus's flesh and blood while Communion is just a symbol. The Lord's Prayer is different. Methodists add "for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever" to the end. This was added by a monk who thought the lord's prayer was pretty and wanted to add something to it. When the bible methodists use was created they translated it from the original language and wrote the monk's part into the text. The number of sacraments are different too. While the Catholics have 8 we have ummmm... i belive we have 3? Sorry if I'm wrong I'm doing this all from memory and 14 year olds have more on their mind then religion normally Ummmm... what else. Ok sorry i can't come up with more off the top of my head though there are huge number of them. sorry if this didn't help what so ever! i tryed! bye

(oh and the Catholic church only let's catholics take communion, and they don't let women be priests (we have ministers) and they are against homosexuals... i hate that as i am a homosexual non Catholic wanting to become a Methodist minister... oh well go figure)
