Stephen,

You've done a terrific job with this article. As Dubh says, "It is so lovely and peaceful."

I love the Carolinas and hope that I can come back one day soon. In the meantime, keep up the good work.

Steve - it sure brings back memories of walking through the woods of Point Pelee, back home in Southern Ontario. If you don't know about it, the climate and vegetation there is considered "Carolinian".

You do have a point about all the creepy crawlers and poisonous plants taking a hiatus during the winter. The dead leaves on the pathways provide a nice cushion for walking.

Where was your picture taken?

Thanks
Maureen

I wrote of trees this month and was happy to read your experience with the seasons.

Maureen,

I am glad to hear that the article brought back memories of home for you. I actually learned of the Carolinian Forest area of Southern Ontario from Van Waffle, Contributing Editor of the Living With Nature Suite101 topic. The picture in the article was taken at Salem Lake Trail in Winston Salem, NC. It is a 7 mile forested trail that surrounds Salem Lake.
