Steve - it sure brings back memories of walking through the woods of Point Pelee, back home in Southern Ontario. If you don't know about it, the climate and vegetation there is considered "Carolinian".

You do have a point about all the creepy crawlers and poisonous plants taking a hiatus during the winter. The dead leaves on the pathways provide a nice cushion for walking.
