» Dubh_Sidhe - Outer Banks
Stephen, I have always considered our Ourter Banks as beyond description, but you have captured their essence in a lovely and thoughtful manner. To walk their beaches and sit on the time worn dunes is to touch the past in the only way open to mortals. For on the wind, the haunting voices of historical ghosts reach the ears of those who are silent, and still, enough to listen.-- posted by Dubh_Sidhe

I am glad you enjoyed the article and I love how you describe the mystique of these islands. Reading your message I visualize myself walking on the beach with the gentle breeze brushing my face. The article was tough to write because it is hard for me to describe the effect the Outer Banks has on me. I feel like I barely scratched the surface here. I can't wait to return there so that I can take in all that there is to see and learn from the nature of the Outer Banks once again. I have a feeling that there will be more articles about Ocracoke and the other Outer Banks islands at this topic in the future.

Hi Steve,You did a wonderful job with this article. Before reading this, the only time I had heard of the Outer Banks was from the TV meteorologists describing weather systems heading up the the eastern seaboard. Now I will have the splendid picture you have painted of the Outerbanks come into my mind instead of a mere geographic location.
Oracoke sounds like my kind of place - a beautiful spot away from the crowds and commercialism! I would love to visit. I know I would take your advice and rent a bicycle.
Thank you for this splendid tour!!!

I am glad that you enjoyed the article. Because of their precarious location off the NC coast the Outer Banks often do make the news as they tend to get hit often by the tropical storms and hurricanes that pass through. I hope that you do get to visit Ocracoke someday as I feel certain that you would enjoy your visit.

Hi Steve,Enjoyed your article and all the information about the Outer Banks. I thought you presented the suject admirable.
Ocracoke is a magical place to me also; I love those deserted beachs (at least used to be!) also.
Thanks for the link to my topic. I will add one to your topic in the article.
Best wishes from a transplanted North Carolinian.

In response to message posted by Sunbear:Tom,
Thanks. I am glad that you enjoyed the article. The beaches of Ocracoke are still fairly deserted compared to most beaches. The summer can be busy but on a 16 mile long island with only a 700 acre town you can find the deserted spots if you try. As far as the link to your article - don't mention it - it is a great article and I was glad to provide the link.
Thanks again,
