Here's the opportunity to tell everyone about YOUR trip to Belize. Where did you go? What are the "must sees" you've encountered? Tell me - tell everyone! It's "open mic." on Belize.

Well, I've never been...but there is a doctor in my church who is a missionary to Belize and he loves it.

» Linda_Gettmann - Belize, something for everyone

We just got back from our third trip to Belize in 10 years, so it definitely draws you back. A great place for wild jungle, river, hiking trips, great scuba diving in the offshore cays, and lovely beaches along the Placencia peninsula. We spent a week on the Wave Dancer, live-aboard dive boat out of Belize City and then another 4 days at the Inn at Robert's Grove, 5 miles north of Placencia on the peninsula. Great experiences, see my upcoming articles later this month & in March at http://www.suite101.com/welcome.cfm/scub...

» michaelb_25 - our 4th trip to Belize

We went to Belize again last Nov.Dec. Just 2 weeks after Cyclone Mitch devasted the region.
Ambergris Caye suffered, pontons gone, but it's all ! It is our 4th trip to Belize, all the way from downunder Australia...
We love San Pedro in Ambergris Caye, with beautiful holiday resorts, quiet, sand everywhere.
Do not forget to visit the Beautiful Belize Zoo, with the incredible diversity of animals living in this small country. You need to rent a car on the mainland. Bargain HARD, and you can get a 4 W-D for US 50, all including. You will find all car rental offices outside the airport. The road from Belize city to Belmopan (the Capital) and south to Placencia is truly beautiful (the scenery !). DO NOT MISS to visit SAN IGNACIO.
We traveled by bus from Guadalajara, Mexico City to Chetumal. A marvellous first class bus trip.
In Chetumal, there is mo problem to find a bus (much less luxurious than Mexican First Class bus) it cost US 10 p.p. from Chetumal to Belize City.
In Belize-City there is a NEW and very good ferry to San Pedro, from the Ramada Inn hotel (now this hotel has changed name, but I forgot the new name) costing US 20 to 25 one way to San Pedro. It is much better, and a lot cheaper v plane ! And very confortable too !
However the cost of living in Belize, above all in Ambergris Caye, is 4 time more expensive than Mexico, maybee more... Also, we will be visiting now more often Mexico, the beautiful region of Guadalajara and less often Belize !
I wish everybody to visit at least the beautiful Ambergris Caye. It's realy a paradise !
You can e-mail me about our adventures in Belize, because we have so good memories...
Michael
