» lovely50 - Cuba, real value Hi,I have been to Cuba twice on the all inclusive plan. I live in Canada and flew out of Toronto. We went to Tryp Club Cayo Coco for one week. The first time it cost $1000. but the second time I went at the last minute for $750. This is all transportation, room food and drink. The food was really good and the resort immaculately clean and luxurious. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Lovely50 -- posted by lovely50 » NeTiZeN - Dominica Has any one visited dominica lately? I stayed with my wifes family for 3 weeks in the summer of 98. The country is one huge nature preserve. Since the population is poor even by caribbean standards the infrastructure remains under-developed. This has proven to be a advantage for eco-tourism for there is still relatively pristine attractions to be explored by the active traveller both above and below the water. This has to be one of the most un-touristy places in the tropical atlantic. No mass market or upscale hotel/resort chains to be found anywhere. The town of Roseau despite being rundown in appearance still has a third world authenticity that reminds even the most jaded island hopper that this place is definitely not to be confused with a disneyland or disneyworld theme park. With the exception of KFC in the middle of town no recognizable sign of americana has touched the external apperance of the island. Internally the subtle and not so subtle mass consumerism has infiltrated the mindset of the typical young dominican which will sooner or later transform the physical landscape in the next several generations to come. So if you want to know the caribbean as it was 25-50 years ago, now is the time to go before the real caribbean is gone forever.-- posted by NeTiZeN
