Over 50 and looking for a job.
This archived discussion is "read only".
» boneman - What are your strategies? G'day from sunny Oz,I am wondering what strategies people use to obtain another job after the age of 50? Since I left my job in a government position, and ventured out into the big wide world, I find that I do not like my new job and wish to find something else. My qualifications are out of date, and I am hoping to get a job using the life skills I have learnt over the years. What do you do to overcome ageism? Find another position if you don't have significant qualifications? How did you target exactly what you wanted to do in life and were you happy with the change? Looking forward to a lively discussion. Regards from down under Ezra -- posted by boneman » DeborahLapoint - Great Questions, Ezra One thought - As I read those AARP findings about how valuable and productive older workers generally are, I would sure provide this information to potential employers. I agree ageism still exists, unfortunately, when it comes to competing for work, and we need to do all we can to enlighten employers about our value. What have others experienced in a job search after 50? -- posted by DeborahLapoint
