» WordCharmer - Holly's Law

Hi Mary,

What a sad and tragic story! When I read that there were over 200 predators living within 3 kilometers of Holly's home, and no one in the community was notified, I was angry!

When will the lawmakers begin protecting victims and future victims rights? It is the same in the US-Criminal's rights supercede the rights of their victims. Yes, we have Megan's Law, but like Holly's law, it does not cover those child molesters who were convicted before Megan's Law was a law. So there are evil people out there, maybe living next door, that we are not told about. I just find it baffling as to why the politicians do not get it!

I signed the petiton, even though I am a US citizen. I hope it accomplishes something before another child is a victim.

Susan,

I was horrified to know that 200 predators were living within 3 kilometres of Holly's home. They are still investigating the case and going door to door in Holly's neighborhood to try and find someone who saw something. They are also asking for DNA from all males living in the area. I'm not sure that makes sense to me. I can see them taking DNA from those who are suspects, but not asking ALL males to donate. However, possibly they think that something will come of it. I doubt that the murderer would voluntarily give the police a DNA sample. This leaves me scratching my head, but I guess they know what they're doing.

Thanks so much for signing the petition. Maybe if the lawmakers see that even those from the US are signing, it will make them stop and think. I do appreciate your co-operation.

Take care, Susan. I hope the next time you visit it is to read a much more enlightening article.

» Joy Butler - Tragic

There have been so many tragedies involving children in the news lately but I hadn't heard about this. What I don't understand is that if these people are known to be a threat, how is it they are allowed to live freely?

Joy,

I couldn't get over the fact that over 200 pedophiles were living within 3 kilometres of Holly's home and no one knew about any of them. I think the police should have to notify people when a pedophile lives in their neighborhood.

I don't know what the Correctional System is thinking when they let these people out to walk the streets. I do hope that Holly's Law is forced through Parliament, so all sex offenders are on a national sex offenders list. That might help catch them, but won't save the children. My opinion is that pedophiles should live out their natural lives in an institution that caters only to their kind. But that probably will not happen because they have rights.

Well, off my soapbox. But this has me hopping mad...
