» jerrib - Loved the lead in this story, Mary You had me interested right away and I was then delighted to learn who I was reading about. I enjoyed learning about this woman - what a life. It's encouraging to read about rejects and persistence - it sure paid off for her. Her books are anything but ordinary. Thanks for such a wonderful bio. Hope business is booming! -- posted by jerrib » Fort_Spunky - Re: Loved the lead in this story, Mary In response to message posted by jerrib:Hi Mary, Maud's life story is so interesting. Thank you for writing about her. I'm still reading Anne of Green Gables online and really enjoying it. I love Anne's "scope for imagination." You are right about Maud teaching us to not give up. Very encouraging for anyone, but especially for writers. Maud sure had quite a life. She is an inspiration to women writers everywhere. She didn't give in to the rejections and continued to persevere. Now, "Anne" is a classic loved the world over. Japanese tourists flock to the Anne of Green Gables house in PEI every year. They want to see all of the places mentioned in the Anne books. Business is picking up over the last week. We've had a grandma come in for presents to send to Boston and a couple come in to buy birthday gifts for a nephew in Alaska. Sooo, our goods are travelling to the US, which makes us feel great. Take care, Jerri. Thanks for all the lovely comments on my article. Glad you enjoyed it. -- posted by Red » Red - Re: Re: Loved the lead in this story, Mary In response to message posted by Fort_Spunky:Linda, I'm glad that you are able to read Anne of Green Gables online. It is a wonderful story. Anne certainly does have a vivid imagination. She is every girl's dream. Maud certainly is an inspiration to women writers all over the world. She teaches us to never give up, no matter how many rejections come our way. Take care, my friend. Glad you could stop by and hope all is well with you. -- posted by Red » Renie_Burghardt - Re: Re: Re: Loved the lead in this story, Mary In response to message posted by Red:Hi Mary, I thoroughly enjoyed part 2 of Lucy Maud Montgomery's life. She was, indeed, an inspirational woman for us writers. I remember reading somewhere that Mark Twain called "Anne of Green Gables" the best book ever written for children. Or something like that. I have never read her two books written for adults. Have to do something about that. I wonder if they're still in print? Thank you for another excellent article. Hope you had a wonderful birthday and Thanksgiving! -- posted by Renie_Burghardt » Red - Re: Re: Re: Re: Loved the lead in this story, Mary In response to message posted by Renie_Burghardt:Renie, I haven't read the two books that Mongomery wrote for adults either. I will have to check it out and see if they are still in print. Glad you enjoyed Part II. I have another great lady coming up in a couple of weeks. I doubt you've ever heard of her, but think you will find her story very interesting. Thanks for stopping by, my friend. I hope all is well in your Ozarks. Have you had any frost yet? -- posted by Red » Tina_Coruth - Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Loved the lead in this story, Mary In response to message posted by Red:Hi Mary, Sorry it has taken me so long to post. She is an inspiration to writers everywhere. Are you getting the same chilly wet weather as we are? There's not much fall color here. I think the drought has had some effect on our beautiful autumn foliage. Take care, Tina. I'm going now to read your most recent article. It sounds terrific. -- posted by Red
