Dan,

Thank you so much for the link and the other interesting facts about Canada's Yukon. Yes, I think we all remember the "Land of the Midnight Sun" from our childhood. I certainly do. The name had a magical aspect and allowed us to dream.

I hope that one day that you and Judy are able to stand in the midnight twilight and hold hands. When you do, please be sure to tell me about it. It would be a fantastic experience.

Thanks so much for dropping by. I appreciate your participation and support more than you know.

Take care, my friend and thanks for stopping by. I always enjoy your visits.

I would love to see all those wild flowers. I bet they are fantastic. I don't know about the bears but the other wildlife sounds interesting. The whales would be at the top of my list for sure. Thanks for the trip. I really enjoyed it as usual. You have a unique way of telling us about all these wonderful places...thanks my friend...hugs

Very interesting description and history of this magnificent wilderness. I understand the Yukon is still quite primitive and is called "Canada's True North". I've read that the gold prospectors and mail carriers around the turn of the century followed the Yukon River and it came to be called the "Highway of the North", and thus inspired the dog sled race called the Yukon Quest, which runs each February between Whitehorse and Fairbanks.

It is good to know that there is still a place like this in the world. When my family drove down the Alaska highway on our way to Colorado from Alaska, we drove through Whitehorse. I agree with you about the beauty of the place. I can still remember it all in vivid detail. We had pulled into over onto the side of the road for the night {we were traveling with two semi's and a car pulling a camper trailer} and the fog moved in. It was still all misty in the morning when we awoke. We had to take the dog for a walk, and were just opening the trailer door, when we heard the sound of bells. Then, out of the mist, as in a dream, came a white horse {no joking} with a bell around his neck, leading a herd of horses across the road. They vanished with hardly a sound other than the bell. Needless to say, my sister and I were thrilled! Later on that day, we found a campground where we stayed for a couple of days. The stream running through it was crystal clear and freezing. The pine tress and birches created a wonderful area. Can you tell I loved it there? :-) Someday soon I hope to revisit again with my own children. Thank you for the wonderful article!

It's just like you describe, too. Good article, you made me want to go and I'm a little homesick for sun lately! smile I traveled to the midwestern states... and it SNOWED on me! LOL ~ so my point is, you made me want to go further NORTHEAST when SOUTH is on my mind! smile

I hope all is well with you and yours.

It is just like you described it we moved to the Yukon just about a year ago. It is everything we could have imagined and more. The thing you have to keep in mind is to take advantage of everything the Yukon has to offer. We were told when we moved here that you will like it or you don't. I love it here. Mostly everyone I have met that has moved here from away was in the Yukon for a vacation or visit and they just never left. The Yukon has a way of stealing your heart!
