My heartfelt sympathies on the passing of your kitty. I am sure you will miss her very much. Pets become such a part of us. They give unconditional love and loyalty. I hope you are able to remember all the lovely memories of you kitty. Take care and do drop by again soon. -- posted by Red » rahunter_nf - Thanks for Bringing Back Memories Snowball's picture reminded me of the Samoyeds in my life--Samee in my parents' home and Smokey, Puff, and Polar in my own home. Like Snowball, they loved snow, activity, and people. Each still holds a special place in my heart. Thanks, Mary, for bringing back memories of them.-- posted by rahunter_nf » Red - Re: Thanks for Bringing Back Memories In response to message posted by rahunter_nf:Bob, I'm glad that Snowball's photo brought back memories of Samee, Smokey, Puff and Polar. I think all Samoyeds love snow. I have never met one who did not. I believe it is something bred into their blood. I know that each of these lovely dogs must have a special place in your heart as Snowball has in mine. Do you presently own a Samoyed? Memories of pets are wonderful things. I'm glad you dropped by and look forward to talking to you soon. Give my love to the family. -- posted by Red » Red - Re: I know how much In response to message posted by jerrib:Jerri, Yes, Snowball was my darling and I spoiled him rotten all of his life. But I have no regrets. He gave me 13 years of unconditional love, loyalty and companionship. In the end, I had to do the right thing. He will always hold a special place in my heart, just as all the other dogs I've had in my life have their special place. Thanks for dropping by Jerri. Hope all is well in your corner of the world. -- posted by Red » rahunter_nf - Re: Re: Thanks for Bringing Back Memories In response to message posted by Red:You asked, "Do you presently own a Samoyed?" No, we don't. When our last Samoyed (Polar) died, Allison and I decided not to get another dog. However, sometime later a neighbour asked if we'd take an older Lhasa Apsa who needed a home. We couldn't say "No." When he (Cocoa) died a few years later, we decided to get a dog to replace him. We also decided that it'd be better to get a small dog because of my age. After researching small dogs, we decided to get another Lhasa Apsa and arranged to have a puppy sent from Ontario. Shortly after arranging to get the Lhasa Apsa puppy, we received a call from a breeder of Papillons in British Columbia whom we'd sent an inquiry to during our research. We were so struck by what she said about Papillons that we decided to get one and arranged to have a puppy sent. Thus, we now have two dogs, neither of which is a Samoyed. Choco, the Lhasa Apsa, belongs to me and Chuckles, the Papillon, belongs to Allison. They'll be ten in August. In the spring, Allison wrote an article, "My Pets - My Companions", which tells about our last two Samoyeds (Puff and Polar), Cocoa, Choco, Chuckles, and Allison's recently aquired guinea pig (Fruity). -- posted by rahunter_nf » Red - Re: Re: Re: Thanks for Bringing Back Memories In response to message posted by rahunter_nf:Bob, Though Meeko is a lovely dog (Alaskan Malamute) I do miss Snowball. I would love to have another of his breed. Each have such outgoing personalities. I am not sure since Snowball was an American Eskimo, whether Samoyeds are as protective as he was. I would think they probably are. Glad you have the Lhasa Apsas. I am sure they are lovely dogs and no matter the breed, our pets are very good for us. They have healing abilities found nowhere else. I am heading over to Allison's topic when I am done posting here to read her article "My Pets - My Companions." I may have read it before but if so, it has been awhile. I'm sure I'll enjoy it and thanks for posting the link. Take care my friend. I hope you are enjoying the same gorgeous weather as we are here. 75 degrees with a cool breeze and no humidity. My kind of summer. -- posted by Red » Red - Re: Great! In response to message posted by cmborris:Cynthia, Yes, they are "angel dogs." I have never had another dog quite like Snowball. American Eskimos and Samoyeds are the most beautiful dogs I have ever seen. When Snowball passed, we thought about getting another one, but chose an Alaskan Malamute instead. I was afraid that if we got an America Eskimo that my grandsons would think he should be just like Snowball. I knew that would never be, as every dog, just as humans, have their own distinct personality. Meeko is affectionate, gentle and loves the boys. Though I love the "angel dogs," Meeko has also found a special place in my heart. Thanks for dropping by. I will get over to your topic soon. -- posted by Red « Previous 1 2 3 Next » Please follow the guidelines set forth in the Suite101 Posting Etiquette when adding to the discussion. |
