Thanks, Mary -- posted by Mary Trotter Kion » Red - Re: For Kids In response to message posted by lastword:Mary, Victoria and Vancouver are also great for adults. There's so much to see and do. You would love it. I have never been down your way either and would love to come. Thanks for visiting. I'm glad you enjoyed the cyber tour. -- posted by Red » Fort_Spunky - Re: Re: For Kids In response to message posted by Red:Hi Mary, As someone said earlier in this thread, you really did your homework for this article. I was in Vancouver about 15 years ago and had a wonderful time. It is a beautiful place. I can't remember the name of the garden we went to but it was immaculate and just georgeous. I was there on a business trip, so had to fit sight-seeing in around the conference. Still I got to see quite a bit of the city. I can't remember now if we went to Victoria. I do remember a suspension bridge that about took my breath away. Don't think I'll have to do that again. Hope things are going well for you. I think about you often. There are so many lovely gardens there that I couldn't begin to guess which one you visited. There is one in Stanley Park and Butchart Gardens is beautiful. I think you would have remembered it because of its history. I can't see doing that suspension bridge the first time. You must be braver than I, my friend. I did a small one at Rock City in Tennessee once and that about did me in. I am not a fan of heights. I do hope you are able to return to the area and take in more sights and sounds. I would love to go whale watching. I know that at certain times of the year when you take the ferry to Victoria, you can see the whales and dolphins playing in the water. They follow the ferry, I'm told and try to attract the attention of the tourists. That would be a sight to see. Linda, I didn't even touch on the sights that you can see in the Vancouver area. I am looking forward to writing a future article on the area. Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving such nice comments. I have been down with Strep Throat, a little gift from my grandson and he was really upset when he heard I had it. I told him that's what Moms and Grandmas do - take care of their little ones. I explained that we do it out of love and it doesn't matter if we get sick. That is the job we were given and we do it out of love. I assured him it was not his fault and then he felt much better. And they say Asperger's children have no conception of other's feelings. Well, he sure does. Take care, Linda. I think of you often as well and hope the world is treating your right. (I sent you an email. Hope it came thorough. I'm never completely sure about my email these days.) I would love to visit the Vancouver are again someday. It's a beautiful place in the world. Talk to you soon, -- posted by Fort_Spunky » Red - Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: For Kids In response to message posted by Fort_Spunky:Linda, I did receive your e-mail and replied. I hope you got it. Thanks so much for the get well greetings. I've been fighting Strep Throat for 2 weeks and the doctor tells me I'm not over it yet. He put me on another round of antibiotics. It sure saps the energy. One day I hope you are able to visit the Vancouver area again. I would like to return there as well. I would especially love to visit the Queen Charlotte Islands. It is a beautiful, remote area about 90 miles off the west coast. -- posted by Red » Fort_Spunky - Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: For Kids In response to message posted by Red:Mary, I don't know if I was too zealous in deleting junk email and deleted yours by mistake, or if it went astray somewhere. Either way I didn't get it. I am so sorry to hear that you're still fighting Strep Throat. Taking antibiotics can really drag you down. I hope this round will do the trick for you. The Queen Charlotte Islands sound wonderful. So romantic sounding... Maybe someday our ships will come in and they will dock at Vancouver. Take care of yourself. The Queen Charlotte Islands are marvelous. I've seen many photos and read many articles. It's a place that is definitely on my "to see" list. -- posted by Red » jerrib - Re: Re: Victoria is one of my favorite cities, Mary In response to message posted by Red:It's a city of character, Mary. I think it would be a fun place to live; great place for your sister to retire - then you can visit! Remember, I lived 18 miles away across Puget Sound. I haven't been to Victoria in about three years, but plan to go again. -- posted by jerrib » Red - Re: Re: Re: Victoria is one of my favorite cities, Mary In response to message posted by jerrib:Jerri, I know you live not far from Victoria. I do hope you get to visit again soon. From what I've been told it's awesome there. I hope one day to take the grandsons for a visit. Brandon wants to go to British Columbia and so does Grandma. -- posted by Red « Previous 1 2 Next » Please follow the guidelines set forth in the Suite101 Posting Etiquette when adding to the discussion. |
