Mike Harris' resignation was a relief to me. That man has closed hospitals, cut education and hasn't given the disabled pensioners of Ontario a raise since 1992. With gas and electric hikes, these people who were living on a meager income are not struggling to pay rent and keep heat and electicity. Many are using food banks because their income doesn't allow money for groceries if they want the other necessities of life. Not only that, but the Harris government has cut their drug coverage.

I for one am glad to see him go. He definitely wanted only rich and poor and no middle class and his objectives have been met.

Many people around here feel that he is running scared because of the Sept 11 tragedy in the US. They feel he was afraid something similar would happen in Ontario and the province has absolutely no way of coping with a disaster of this nature. About time our provincal government woke up and smelled the coffee.

Only my opinion. :-)

I hadn't heard that he was scared of a terrorist attack, but I think Harris had a lot of reasons for wanting to leave, both personal and political. Now that the Conservatives are falling in the polls, maybe his party will change their direction under a new leader.

Things are starting to heat up here in Alberta as well. We may see a province wide teacher's strike after Christmas. They're very upset because they had to take a paycut after Premier Klein was elected in 1994 and they've been falling behind every since. And our health minister is talking about bringing back user fees.
