Lots of great tips for our readers, Mary. I've featured this article on the Health COI page this week.

I'm always looking for ways to become more organized and less stressed..

I use bins. Lots of bins. I get them dirt cheap at the dollar store.

I try to straighten up everyday. This eliminates long hours of cleaning.

It seems that my kitchen counter is stored for everything else but the kitchen sink: mail, keys, pocketbooks, cell phone...I need to work on the kitchen counter..:-)

I try to do something everyday and to be honest it is no more than 15 minutes: vacuum, dust, laundry...one a day.

But then, I slack and end up with hours of cleaning at times...LOL

Kids grow up too quickly. They certainly aren't going to remember you for a clean house!

What excellent ideas. Wish I had known you when my kids were little.

Thanks Tamara. I'm delighted that you featured my article and glad that the tips were useful to you. Oranization helps to reduce stress, and if, like me, you live in a small house, it is imperative to keep things in order. It doesn't take long for them to get out of control.

Hope you are well. I haven't heard from you in a while.

Tery,

Bins are good. They keep the clutter down and there are some very pretty ones on today's market.

I was widowed very young and it was my first mother in law who taught me about organization. She got up every morning, cooked a big breakfast for everyone before they went to work/school, dusted and vacuumed everyday. Once a week she did laundry (Monday) and then she had one big chore for every day of the week, which she planned ahead. Her house was never out of order and she never had any big cleaning chores. Though she taught me all of this, I don't always get it done. I hate when things get behind and then procrastinate because the job is too big.

Jerri,

I don't believe in having a sparkling house while children go without attention. When the boys are here, I do only what has to absolutely be done. My home is far from perfect, but there is a lot of love here.
