» DAnnett - Safety in thunderstorms

Hi. I was wondering if anyone has information on whether it is safe to remain in your tent trailer during a thunder and lightning storm. Are there any special precautions to take? Do the roof lifter arms conduct electricity? Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi There,
Go to http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/MNR/parks/index...
which is the booking site for Ontario Provincial Parks and is run by the government. Look for BRONTE Provincial Park and see if the new campsites are open. If so...grab one. The park is beautiful and perfectly situated between Toronto (1/2 hour drive) and Niagara (3/4 hour drive). These sites are new and I'm not sure if available yet, but try it out and good luck.
Welcome to our Ontario!

Regards,
Bruce Craig

In response to message posted by AAArroyo:

Hi,
We just bought a Flaggstaff Model 725D 2 weeks ago. We've had it out camping 2 weekends now. We dearly love our popup (our 2nd, 1st was apach) the floorplan was so suitable for us. There was a couple of quirks that had to be worked out with the dealership to fix. But they were very accomadating in fixing all right away. The hose for the sink is too small and it doesn't drain but very very slowly. The bunk ends were too too damp inside after a hard rain for 12 hours. The fuse blew twice in 24 hours. Tent ripped 4 inches on slideout next to where the trailer meets it., ..
All in all I hope I didn't buy the money pit. Theyv'e been gracious about fixing it and its a beautifull popup with a slideout dinett, slideout stove and sink, cassett toilet and shower, it has everything the others didnt, Love it

» blugrassgal - Hard Sided Pop Up

I am looking for a new or used Hard Sided Pop Up (my first camper purchase.) Could anybody give me suggestions on what make and model to get? I'd love one with a toilet and shower. If anybody has one to sale, I'd be interested in that also. Please email me or post to list.

Thanks,
Michelle

Bluegrassgal,

I guess it depends what you're looking for. Are you talking about the hybrid trailers that look like a travel trailer yet have "popdown" bunk ends, a true popup with hard sides, or an A-frame popup?

If you're looking for the first, many people are happy with the Jayco Kiwi. Others out there are the Cub, Cabana, Palomino, Rockwood, etc. Just about every travel trailer manufacturer now makes one. I believe all of them have bathrooms that include a shower and toilet.

If you're looking for the second, the only one I'm familiar with is the Palomino TXL. Go to www.palominorv.com for more information. A shower/cassette option is available on the Palomino TXL.

If you're looking for the third, the two main manufacturers of A-frame trailers are Chalet and A-liner. Go to www.chaletrv.com and www.aliner.com for more information. I know one of those two brands can be had with a shower/cassette.

Whatever you're looking for, I do highly recommend the cassette toilet/shower combination. We don't use the shower much in ours (because we often camp overnight and it's not worth it) but we always use the cassette potty.

Good luck

Hi there,
We are going to be camping in Niagara Falls for a couple of days this summer also. I do have a travel guide that lists the campgrounds if that would be helpful, let me know. I am not sure which one we are picking yet either. Have you gotten any other feedback that could be useful to me as well?
We are coming from Western Canada.
Thanks,
Melody aka Pookysmom

palimino has a website palominorv.com the mailing adress is vanguard industriesof Michigan, Inc.Colon MI49040 I hope this helps. I have a 95 also , at he top of the lifing arms at each corner ther is a nut and bolt attaching to the top check to see if they're too loose but don't over tighten , spray the arms with siliconespray, also ther is 2 zerk fittings under the trailer where the cables run through a rectangular tube grease real good , also spray the cables and pullies withWD40 or something like it. This is my first popup but Ihave owned 4 or 5 trailers and motor homes.Just keep checking and keep an eye on things so little problems don't become big ones.

» NEWB - Disturbing Info about Coleman

I've read some postings here that state that Jayco and Starcraft are built better than Coleman.
I am assuming that it is a Jayco or a Starcraft dealer that is telling you these things. (at the very least an owner of same who does not want you to think him crazy for buying whichever he owns.

If this myth was true, why do you suppose Coleman had 34% of the market share? Starcraft and Jayco combined have 33% and the remaining 33% is shared by all other brands on the market.

Coleman Guarantees floors and roofs for life. You won't find this in any other brand. Give me a product with a guarantee like that any day.

Could you define hard sided pop up? Are you talking about a folding trailer with hard sides and canvas bunk ends, or are you talking about a HI-lo or Trail Manor type?
