I bought the Reese Outfitter 4 bike carrier with tow capability at Walmart in Germantown Md. for $83.00. We have made a few adjustments and my husband made 3 girls bike adaptors out of PVC pipe and brackets for less than $10. Each one of those adaptors cost $25.00. Keep looking Im sure you will find one. They are very sturdy. Yesterday we went looking for pop-up campers in Ocala, Florida and we ran into a dealer for "Flagstaff by Forest River" pop-ups. After we looked at Coleman and Jayco, we were impressed with the "apparent quality" of the Flagstaff models. However, I cannot seem to find much information about Flagstaff models or perhaps a comparison of the Flagstaff models to, say, Coleman. (The salesman had plenty of information but I am leary of salesmen in general). Does anyone know about these campers? Help? We are new to pop-ups being tent campers for over 10 years... They don't have many of the features of the higher end Colemans or Jaycos, but that's what I liked about them (I bought a Tracker instead because or local Rockwood dealer was discontinuing the popups and the few he had in stock did not have the options we wanted). People who own Rockwoods and Flagstaffs are very happy with theirs and thought they were a great value. So if you're concerned because you have never heard of them, don't be. They're good popups. We don't have as much seating space (just a dinette) but have found that all the extra counter space we have is needed/used much more than any extra seating space would have. You may want to consider Palomino. They are affordable, weigh less, and considerably less expensive than Coleman, Jayco, or Starcraft. Of course, having a local dealer who can help you out with warranty items and such is just as important as what brand you buy. We're going camping this weekend into the Sierras....can't wait! -- posted by Abbanat » TimF58 - Re: First Timers We're taking the family to Ontario this summer and would like to stay in the Niagra Falls area and then the Toronto area. The main attractions are the falls and the Hockey Hall of Fame. We prefer campgrounds with sites that aren't too close together and have clean showers and restrooms. Private camps are okay as long as we don't feel like we're in a parking lot. Have 3 kids 15, 13 and 11. We have been tent campers for about 10 years and recently purchased a 1995 Palomino popup - ac/3 way frig/awning/screen room. I have two questions:1) when cranking it up, we hear a loud "popping" sound - it doesn't seem to be stuck and keeps on going up - any ideas? 2) we can't garage it, so we are considering buying a cover for it. I have read some comments that say this will cause moisture to build up under the cover and ruin the top. ???
