There was a problem but I do think that it is possible to find some that have not sagged and it seems to be the consensus that if it hasnt sagged by now then it probably wont. Do your research and examine very carefully as you would with any purchase. We bought a used 1997 Coleman Yukon from a one owner who had had dealer replace the roof in 1999 for a leaking problem. We could not be happier. Our experience in our shopping showed us that some dealers were less than open about camper histories. All of the private parties selling that we dealt with were upfront and honest. We found exactly what we wanted for a great price. You will too.-- posted by Lablover » rigger54 - Rockwood folding campers I'm new to the camping in folding camping trailers. We have been camping in tents for the past 10 or so years. Last August we purchased a Coleman 93 Sequoia in great shape. I don't want to keep it more than a year, so we can move up to something newer. I'm very interested in the Rockwood Preimier folding campers and what they have to offer for the prices I have seen both used and new. Are these units a good quality? Are there good or bad years? Please give me any information why I shouldn't buy one of these products.Thanks -- posted by rigger54 » rhoward - Pop-up Tent Trailers We are looking to buy our first pop-up trailer. A dealer has priced us a 2000 Coachmen 086 which was a rental unit for $3800. It has heat and air. We have also priced a new 2000 model Jayco Qwest for $3400. These are both 8' trailers. We would like anyone's opinion on which of these would be the best deal. Because it was a rental and had never been titled we were able to get the original warranty that came with it. If you can get the less expensive one with a warranty that's what i would do. Like I said. Ours was a rental but we never had any trouble with it. We have never even camped in it yet. When I got the popup home I was able to open and close the roof(once) to better inspect the inside and to show the kids. Now when I try to crank up the roof- I can feel "slipping"(ie each crank may not acutally move the roof up) and the force of the roof seems to be forcing it to close all by itself. Since I am a new pop-up owner, my problem could be a "user error". Does anyone have any suggestions as to what my problem is?? Is there something I am doing wrong?? I am very handy so I'm not scared to unbolt the crank area of the cable system. I will note that the crank shaft seems to be further out from the crank housing and I do see some threads that I don't remember seeing when I first looked at the camper. However, I seem unable to get the shaft to screw back into the box... -- posted by NJCAMPR » dkstrong - Re: Coleman Roof will not stay up In response to message posted by NJCAMPR:The problem with your crank is that is was jammed when cranking the trailer down. The threads you see should only be seen when cranking down the top. When cranking up, the mechanism should screw in and clamp the rachet that keeps the pop from falling. I found out similar to you that the crank mechanism is not unbreakable. To fix, Now the mechanism should work correctly. Remember, Never force the crank past full up ALSO, never crank the Pop-up closed. If too much force is exerted, two shear pins will shear deep in the mechanism, and major disasembly (remove bumper, and rear plastic cover)to replace the $.98 worth of shear pins. This I know well. This happened to me on the first day out with my camper.
