» shisrael - Small cast iron, chocolate

I picked up this skillet with a flat griddle top. The bottom of the skillet doesn't measure more than 6-1/2 inches. Does anyone have a tried & true chocolate desert recipe that they could recommend for cooking in cast iron this size? Thanks.

Sheila

Why don't you try chocolate chip pancakes, and top them with hot fudge sauce and a little whipped cream?

Hi Sheila:

I assume this isn't a Dutch oven that takes heat top and bottom? Can you send me a picture of it?

If you can bake top and bottom, then try any recipe that you enjoy. Or buy a brownie mix and bake it.

Without heat top and bottom, you'll need to turn the dessert. Lindsay's chocolate chip pancake idea is great. (Thanks for filling in, Lindsay, while I was at Folsom Lake on a Dutch oven picnic!)

If you only have heat on the bottom, try chocolate chip cookies (with your favorite nuts, of course) and bake them like a pancake. The texture and nutty flavor will suprise you.
