» peachy22 - watering amounts

Hi, I once had a green thumb, but now am completely lost. I just moved to Rancho Mirage (near Palm Springs) and I live in a community that supplies the water. The irrigation system comes on 3 times per day for 5 minutes. My question: I have a Sego, Giant bird of paradise, Mexican fan palm and philodendrons. Based on the water schedule what type of drip head should I use? The soil is true desert sand and average temp is 115 for the next couple of months. Please help...I would hate to lose these beautiful plants.

In response to message posted by peachy22:

The good news are that your specimens are all drought-tolerant. The bad news: you'll still need to give them plenty of water in the heat you described. Three times a day for 5 minutes sounds about right. I'm not sure about what type of emitters to use, though. I would check at your local garden center since they are on top of irrigation needs for your specific area.
