» peachy22 - watering amounts Hi, I once had a green thumb, but now am completely lost. I just moved to Rancho Mirage (near Palm Springs) and I live in a community that supplies the water. The irrigation system comes on 3 times per day for 5 minutes. My question: I have a Sego, Giant bird of paradise, Mexican fan palm and philodendrons. Based on the water schedule what type of drip head should I use? The soil is true desert sand and average temp is 115 for the next couple of months. Please help...I would hate to lose these beautiful plants.-- posted by peachy22 » KeithM_4 - Re: watering amounts In response to message posted by peachy22:The good news are that your specimens are all drought-tolerant. The bad news: you'll still need to give them plenty of water in the heat you described. Three times a day for 5 minutes sounds about right. I'm not sure about what type of emitters to use, though. I would check at your local garden center since they are on top of irrigation needs for your specific area. -- posted by KeithM_4
