I read paula article on home remedies Iam replying to the one about mamou tea. As a child growing up in southwest la
in Lake Arthur my parents had a mamou bush and yes we used it for the flu. But we did not dig the roots up and boil them but extracted the seeds from the pods and split them and boiled them in water to make the tea and of course added some lemon, honey and always a shot or two of old grow whisky. It worked every time infact i still have my mother send me a jar every year and i still use it for the flu.

I have been looking for that particular mamou tea tree. where can I find one? Also, my grandma made us chew out the pulp of a little piece of limb from a shrub. It was very bitter. could it be the same tree?
