Hi, Danno!

How wonderful to have you come for a "visit" to my butterfly garden! Thanks ever so much for your kind comment, which I truly appreciate from the depths of my heart. You made my day, Cuz!

You must surely recognize one of the photos, as it is the MOST beautiful of all the gardens we visited last summer.

Take care, and watch for an email soon!

Cuz Naomi ~~

Naomi, yes, all nations seem to be pulling together and some that were enemies for so many years. Russia, for instance, is standing firm with the US and other Allied Nations, telling us the Cold War is definitely over. People of the world are uniting against the horror of terrorism and that in itself is beautiful.

I know that many Canadians, including myself, are flying both the US and Canadian flags. This is also beautiful. So my friend, the beauty from the ashes is sprouting and we can only pray that this unification of hearts and nations will continue.

Have a great day, my friend. It is gorgeous here and has been for a week. Lovely days about 65 or 70 degrees and cool nights, just right for sleeping.

» jerrib - Your depth of feeling

is as deep as the rest of us in the nation, Naomi. But you have written so beautifully and compassionately about it. Thank you for the lovely pictures and thoughts.

Happy 50th Anniversary! What a landmark! How great life has been for you. I'm so glad you got to our great capitol last year instead of this year. God works in mysterious ways and chose to protect you.

I used to work in WA, DC, a lot and just can't imagine the horror of what happened to the Pentagon. I, too, wrote about this fateful day.

Hi, Jerri!

Thanks so much for your kind comments and I'm pleased that you enjoyed this article and the photos. I do recall that you had worked in D.C. and know this must be hard for you to see the damage to the Pentagon and in NYC. Like you and the rest of the world, I'm still trying to absorb what all really happened that tragic day. Sometimes it seems like a scary movie on TV and not something that really happened in America. The loss of so many lives at one time is almost incomprehensible. Yet we must move beyond what happened that day and pray that our leaders will receive Divine guidance on how to handle everything in the days and years to come.

THANK YOU for the well wishes for our 50th Anniversary. Yes, life has been good to us and we're thankful for that. We had a great time with family and friends at Lake Chelan, and the weekend went by too quickly!!

I will read your article you mentioned, Jerri -- I'm sure it will touch my heart as well. Take care, my friend -- and don't give up on me!! (-;

Good morning, Renie!

Thanks so much for stopping by on this beautiful Autumn Day! I always appreciate your visits and your comments. How true that our faith will sustain us in the future, even as it has through so many other dark times in the history of our great nation. Renie, I know that you have been through many difficult situations in your life, and you're a wonderful example of how your faith sustained you through all of them. Keep writing about them, as they inspire so many people!!

Thanks also for the well wishes for Larry and me. We've decided we'll go for the "DIAMOND" now! Take care, Renie.

» MsPersephone - Beauty Amidst the Ashes

Greetings, Naomi -

Thank you for this lovely article, expressing both grief and hope. And thank you for reminding us that life has again sprung up around the devastation once created by Mount St. Helens' eruption.

Already some beauty has come from the horrible attacks of Black Tuesday - the beauty of the American soul. We have been blessed to witness great courage and dedication, compassion, generosity, a sincere desire to help, and the ability to work together. We have also been reminded of several other blessings - our allies. Great Britain, Canada, Germany, Holland, and several other countries have reminded us of their friendship and caring.

Because these beautiful things - friendship, compassion, courage, among many others - have arisen from the rubble, the terrorists have lost this battle.

Thank you for your heartfelt and thought-provoking article.

Hello, Mari --

Thank you so much for reading my article and for adding your positive thoughts and comments. You are so right when you say that the beauty of the American soul has sprung up in a most marvelous way since the tragedy of Black Tuesday. Never in my lifetime have I witnessed such mass genuine compassion, caring, giving, praying, unselfishness, and generosity in America. Also, the tenacity and endurance of those hundreds of rescue workers at "Ground Zero" 24 hours a day since September 11th literally staggers my mind. They are heroes indeed, and won't be unrewarded.

I have to agree with you that because of the way Americans have come together -- terrorists will not be winners in their efforts to destroy our country. Our forefathers fought for freedom and America can keep her freedom through the unity of her people. There has indeed been beauty found amidst those ashes already -- the beauty of a "United" States of America.

Thanks again, Mari for your visit and contribution to this discussion.
