» jswhitni - Doyle

I was very shocked when they killed Doyle. I try not to get advance warning on what's going to happen on BtVS or Angel. Instead, I like to watch and enjoy it as it happens. On this particular episode, I remember sitting there with my daughter, our mouths hanging open when it happened. I felt stunned and walked around the rest of the night muttering something like "They killed Doyle. Why would they do that?"

I went through my denial stage where I decided that it was all a dream. Better yet, it was a spoof and Cordelia would wake up from this dream and find Doyle in her shower. I admit it. I was in denial.

However, I'm not anymore. They killed Doyle. They brought us Wesley. I personally like Wesley. He's a wimpy little mouse that wants to be different and this spinoff has provided that opportunity for this character to do just that. I've been enjoying it.

Need I go into the lameness of Cordelia getting visions because Doyle kissed her? I think not!

I guess what I would really like to see is Doyle to come back and we still get Wesley. They would play off of each other so well (like Giles and Zander).

I love your topic, obviously! I'll be back to visit and rant some more later.

It's nice to know I'm not the only adult hooked on these two shows. It's turned into a family night in my house. The Buffy and Angel night. The 30 year old and the 10 year old rushing home, ordering pizza and watching them together.

» Car - Not the only one...

You're not the only one. =) We drop everything in our household to catch Buffy and Angel. It's our designated "no go out" night.

I too was amazed they did that to Doyle. But you never know. I mean look... they brought both Spike and Faith back. Maybe there's a chance Doyle will come back as well.

I wasn't sure if Angel was going to be good. Wasn't even sure if after high school Buffy could keep going. But they both seem to be getting better and better! I love seeing snips of Angel's past, like the episode with his father.

I also love the theme music they picked for Angel. I've been trying to find out if they have it on tape/cd anywhere but so far no luck. Anyone know?

» steppermom - Doyle

I have to say that, in this ex-avid fan's opinion, the "murder" of Doyle by Mr. "Smart-guy" Whedon, was the worst choice made by a series creator in a LONG time! I rarely watch the show since the addition of Wesley. Unlike the previous poster, I see him as an extremely lame replacement! (Maybe the actor is a close personal friend of Joss Whedon?) Whatever the reason, the Wesley character (as well as the actor who portrays him) lack that special quality that made Doyle such an exciting part of this new series. Mr Whedon's arrogance in implying that we fans (who, btw, make or break a series) should simply "deal with it" makes me even less inclined to watch either series! His ego has obviously gotten way out of control, and he needs to be reminded who is actually "the boss"! I really do enjoy Buffy, and would probably enjoy Angel as well, if it weren't for the fact that I feel as if Mr. Whedon is sitting in his posh office somewhere, laughing as he turns the next screw! Remember, Mr.W, there are many "geniuses" in Hollywood, series come and go, the only constant is THE FANS! Please them and you keep your cushy job, displease them and....does any one remember who created that "Buffy" show a few years back?

» jswhitni - LOL!

LOL!! Great Point! Sometimes taking risks pays off and sometimes it doesn't. I think this one was not such a great success. Time to rethink?

» jswhitni - We've been enjoying both Angel and Buffy also.

We've been enjoying both Angel and Buffy also. I wasn't so sure about Angel or the end of high school for Buffy either, but like you, I'm happy with it and think it's getting better.

I also don't think that Doyle is completely gone. Spike was always a great character on Buffy and when they brought him back it has added so much to the show. I think we might experience something similar with Doyle (I hope, anyway).

I don't know about the theme music but I'm waiting for a current Buffy/Angel CD. I'm sure there will be one!

Oh and the image of Wesley and Angel dancing just popped into my head! How funny was that?!? We laughed so hard!

» CroneofElderfen - Three years later

It has now been three years since my first article at this topic, "Living on the Banks of the River Denial," was published here at Suite101.com. We fans cared so much, and yet we knew so little. Jaynee, the new editor of this topic, has been kind enough to agree to allow me to write a tribute here to the late Glenn Quinn, and that article is coming soon. To anyone who has been stopping by this site since the beginning, thank you. So much has happened in three years!
