How to refinish an old stereo cabinet: I have an old cabinet I am using as a tv stand

it is a wood finish stereo, and I plan on antiquing it with paint. My only problem is what to do with the sides, right now they are cloth covered speakers. a hideous 70's color blend of burnt orange and black. hee hee. trying to think of some way to cover that. what should I do?
