In response to Re: Re: do you collect American Dinnerware? posted by desertblue:Jill, I've found that if you don't use bone china, it deteriorates and when you wash it, it breaks. I've had that experience several times, so now do get my cups and saucers down to have a cup of tea now and then. It feels good to drink out of them for no special reason. I have a lovely white cup and saucer with the picture of an English thatched cottage on it. It is my favorite. Another favorite is one that is black with a pink orchid on the saucer and on the inside of the cup. I have lots of teacups with roses on them and then the one from India, which is my latest addition. I have a square plate that has two parrots painted on it. It is a favorite as well. It belonged to my grandmother. She got it as a wedding gift. I'm not even sure if it was new then. One of these days I will have to get it out of the china cabinet and do some research on it. One of the dishes I have in the Limoges is a white background with pale green on it and pink roses. It has a scalloped edge and gold trim. It is my favorite Limoges piece. Here is one of my pieces. It's the only picture I have on my computer. <img src="http://www.suite101.com/files/topics/508..."> I have a jardinere that has pink around the scalloped edge and around the bottom. On the white background in between, it has pink roses with green leaves. I love it, but it has aged terribly. Thanks for sharing. Do you have Limoges? If so, let me know what some of yours are like. -- posted by Red
