Would you please clarify. Are you saying that you were able to play the DVDs you got from Amazon UK on a regular US DVD player?

Thanks. If so, I will certainly buy.

I loved the series, saw it many years ago when it first came on TV- have just bought and watched the entire first series on DVD.

I am now impatient to see the following series- is there one? I can't remember, but the way the last edition ended there should have been a follow up series and if there is, when is it likely to come out on DVD?

» Richie_V - Series 1

I have purchased the DVD Series 1 of "A Family at War," and let me proclaim here and now that it is every bit as wonderful as I had remembered it from 30 years ago. The writing and acting are superb, as are the production values. A million thanks, John Finch!

There are four series in all, so my question is: when will the next three be made available? Please, Acorn, make it soon!

» Richie_V - Series 2 and 3

I have received the following message from Acorn UK:

"I am pleased to inform you that we are hoping to release series two of the above title later this year. We are also hoping to release the other series but we do not have release dates at present. There were only three series made, but the second two are longer than the first."

» tsuku - The next series of Family at War

In a recent memo from Acorn-UK, they said they have plans to release the next series of Family in early 2005.
In the interim, I urge all of you to get and watch another of John Finch's excellent works called Sam. It is currently available in two series on DVD which is great for the American audiences. Just make sure your DVD player can play region 2 DVD's. You can get info on the Internet to tell you how to modify your existing DVD player to play the British disks. Then enjoy SAM. You'll never forget it.

Series 3 has now been released. When I began posting there was only one reference on the internet. Obviously, other's have recognized the value of this masterpiece of TV and now we have it on DVD. Thank you Acorn and John Finch. If Series 3 is not the end of the series, please keep on Acorn to keep them coming.

» Richie_V - Series 3

If I am counting correctly, the release of Series 3 means that the entire run of "A Family at War" is now complete, all 52 of the original episodes.

Series 1: 13
Series 2: 19
Series 3: 20

What a marvelous TV drama this is. A million thanks to Acorn for making it available on DVD!
