great review. So many good reads and so little time. Looking forward to some time off around Christmas to catch up on my reading.

Hi Pamela,

I am a great fan of Capote though it has been a while now since I have read any of this works.

Thanks for bringing these wonderful tales back from the dustbin of literary history.

Tom

Hi Pamela, I love this book, and get it out and reread it around this time of the year, all the time. Thank you for the great reveiw, as usual. And congratulations on being published in the Dana Literary Society. I read your neat essay, and really enjoyed it. Hope all is well there, and you're not having the icky weather we're having in the Ozarks. (Snow and freezing rain.) Take care. Renie

Hi Irene,

Yes, me too! My semester ends next week, so after a marathon batch of grading, I plan to collapse amid a pile of books and catch up on leisure pursuits.

Thanks for popping by,
Pamela

Hi Tom,

Like Renie, I think I may make it a tradition to revisit this collection every December. When end-of-semester grading threatens to overwhelm me, these stories help to get me in the mood for the holiday season. I so admire Capote's storytelling abilities. I'm a big fan of southern (USA) fiction.

Hi Renie,

Our weather has been much like yours, chilly and precipitous. Did I blink and miss autumn?

I read this collection for the first time last year and couldn't wait to revisit it this time around. I think, like you, I'll make reading these stories a holiday tradition. Years and years ago, I saw two of the stories adapted for the stage, not realizing the stories were published in book form. I wish these stories were traditionally performed on stage in December. Not to slight Dickens, but I'd much prefer Sook and Buddy to Scrooge, as I think I've been over-Scrooged...

Appreciate your comments on my essay and am always glad to see your comments posted here.

Keep warm!

Hi Pamela!
I always try to read something special at Christmas time, and usually it's one of my old friends already on my bookshelves - but looks like I'm off to the local library in search of this short story collection. You have whetted my hunger for some Capote Christmas story telling!!!

Best!

Hi Wendy,

I hope you enjoy this collection if you find time to track it down in your library. I wish I had children to read the stories to, as I think they would appeal to all age groups.

Happy holidays! Pamela

» Tina_Coruth - Thank you!

Hi Pamela,
Thank you for this wonderful review. It's been so long since I read the Christmas Memory. I'm glad you have brought it back to my attention - I want to read it again. It's off to the library for me!

Thank you for including the links to the photos. Truman certainly looked like his father, didn't he!?!?

Happy Holidays!

Hi Tina,

It is a lovely collection to read to get in the giving spirit, rather than the shopping one.

Peace and Joy (and fruitcakes!),
