In response to message posted by toberson:Yes, I agree that Plath presents the struggles of artists finding a voice, and particularly for female artists struggling to find a voice that isn't "male" and for having this voice accepted. When I mention her dark side, I refer to the depths Esther falls into and crawls out of in her struggle to believe she even has a voice worth claiming.
Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate your comments. (Glad, too, that my JT reference was meaningful to someones besides myself--it's been one of my favorite lines I think since the moment I heard the song a long, long time ago.)

In response to message posted by Tina_Coruth:Hi Tina,
I hope you enjoy the novel if you find the opportunity to read it. It's dark, but it's not depressing, or at least, I didn't think so. What is depressing is the knowledge that Plath let the bell jar descend for real soon after the book's publication. One wonders if in today's Prozac world Plath would have survived.
(No segue here): We had snow today! How dare winter encroach upon my favorite season, autumn?
Thanks for visiting.

Thanks, Irene.
People of all ages (mostly women, I imagine) are drawn to the novel. I think young people relate to the adolescent angst and older women relate to the struggles of a woman in a man's world.
Hope all is well in Ireland!

In response to message posted by WebbQuest:Hi Sara,
I haven't seen any release dates, but pictures of Plath filming the movie in Cambridge have begun to crop up on the Internet. I'll keep looking!
Hope Ayla enjoyed Halloween. I had no trick-or-treaters, but I certainly have candy. Yay.

In response to message posted by pamela_saint:Hi Pam!
Thanks for your wishes for Ayla, as always!! Her daddy woke her up tonight while making sure she was warm enough in the crib. I felt sorry for both of them
. Having candy on your end is a good deal ;) .
You said your children are grown, yes??
Did you know you said "pictures of Plath filming the movie?" Did you mean to say "Paltrow?" I must say, I'm really looking forward to a reason to see a movie.

In response to message posted by WebbQuest:How funny! I had no idea I wrote Plath. In the few pictures I've seen of the shoot, however, I must grudgingly admit that Paltrow, quite astonishingly, resembles Plath.
No, I don't have any children, only the 4-legged variety that meow.
Off to scrounge some chocolate...
