Yes, I agree that Plath presents the struggles of artists finding a voice, and particularly for female artists struggling to find a voice that isn't "male" and for having this voice accepted. When I mention her dark side, I refer to the depths Esther falls into and crawls out of in her struggle to believe she even has a voice worth claiming.

Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate your comments. (Glad, too, that my JT reference was meaningful to someones besides myself--it's been one of my favorite lines I think since the moment I heard the song a long, long time ago.)
