» tamara_peters - Thanks, Linda..

Linda, thanks once again for the excellent information you provide our readers.

My mother never drank a drop of alcohol until her doctor prescribed beer as an appetite stimulant. She was extremely underweight, and this was supposed to help her gain it. It did, and then some, along with her becoming an alcoholic later on in life.

I was encouraged to drink beer, while still in the hospital, to help stimulate the production of milk for nursing my newborn. I also became an alcoholic.

I'm not blaming these single incidents, of course, but doctors who promote alcohol for medicinal purposes should be aware of the potential risk to patients who have rampant alcoholism in their families.

Tamara

Linda...Great piece. One other thing that few folks eat other than Wiccans and others who eat raw fruits and nuts with Tannin in it is acorns.
They even take the "caps" and crush them to make tea.
