» JEWS3 - Wonderful Article!

Very informative! I think it is a very important concept that those who have walked down this path be right beside those who are walking the same path. Not only is there safety in numbers, but there is also SECURITY and UNDERSTANDING and STRENGTH in numbers!

As Bobbi took this path, I myself could only IMAGINE what she was feeling. I was there for her as much as I, a non-cancer patient, could possibly be. I know, when she found the online support group, it changed her whole outlook. She could laugh and cry with others who knew EXACTLY what she was going through. Something I couldn't do for her.

» bajones - Thank you, but...

Friends and family still can offer support as well. I can't speak for all breast cancer patients, but as for my opinion, I think that is just as vital as having someone that has lived through it. Regardless of what the disease is and no matter the stage, support is one of the key factors in healing.

I didn't have the support of a fellow cancer patient or survivor at first but what I did have gave me enough courage and strength to move on and not let this disease bring me down. Once I found the support online it only enhanced and sped up my healing process.
