Thank you, Mary. I'll bet Meeko is adorable doing all those things. Isn't it cute the way they all have their own unique ways of "training" us!

Hi Deb. Our dogs are really our friends and two-way communication is always important in a friendship. What kind of dogs do you have?

In response to Re: Well Said posted by JButler:Hi Joy,
I enjoyed this article because it makes me feel much better about the way Biscuit has us trained! ![]()
When he wants to go outside, he goes to the back door. If no one goes to let him out, he comes back and stares at either my husband or me as if to say "Don't you know I want to go outside?"
When he's ready to come back in, he goes to the screen door that leads out of the breezeway toward the street and looks out. Then he gives a couple of little barks. He doesn't even look at the back door, but it's like he's saying "I'm ready to come back in now, but I don't want to ask. I'm just barking at 'them.'" Sometimes I think he says, "Hurry up it's cold out here!" He doesn't like cold weather.
I wholehearted agree that they each have their own personalities and should get to let them shine through.
Thanks for another fun article and an opportunity for us to get to talk about our pets.
Linda

» biogardener - Spitz
Did you all know what the name "Spitz" means? It is the common German adjective meaning "pointed." We say, for example, that a pencil is "spitz" when it has just been sharpened. A look at the dog's nose confirms that he is indeed "pointed" like a white sharpened pencil with the black nose representing the pencil lead.So that is where the name comes from.

Yes, that's quite interesting and I'm sure many people didn't know that. Even though a lot of dogs have pointed noses, the spitz nose and ears are markedly pointed.
Thanks for your visit and comment, Traute.

Hi Joy,What a wonderful article and discussion. I agree with all of you. Who wants a robot when it's a companion that we enjoy. Dogs have such interesting personalities.

Hi Tina, good to see you here! You are so right...and each dog has its own personality just like humans do.
