» LadyB - Karyn, good article! I'm a little puzzled by one statement, thou Karyn, good article! I'm a little puzzled by one statement, though, that Valerian has been permanently banned from American markets? It seems to live in all the health food stores. (?)I also have another little tidbit that came to my attention after I had seen it played out. Hops will have exactly the reverse effect on someone who is clinically depressed. I lived with someone who was truly depressed and had insomnia to boot. He would drink really strong cups of Hops tea (ecch, VERY bitter and a bit sock-like themselves!) and proceed to walk up and down the walls all night, wondering why it wasn't working. Soon thereafter I read about the hops and he stopped drinking it and had pretty good luck with Valerian and also with Skullcap.
