Peggy, when buying a car size isn't the only thing people miss. Since working in the industory for over 15 years I've seen and heard every complaint you can imagine. One man call to complain that the head rest didn't come to his wifes neck because she was short. Another said his back hurt because of the lumbar support pressing into his back.
For some reason people are afraid to do their homework and ask questions. My husband and I bought a Mountaineer which I loved. Now you'd think a big truck would be comfortable for a big guy (6'1") In reality he had to bend over to get in and out and often hit his head. While I could slip in and out with no problem. Later we got a Chevy Blazer. He loved it, but it hurt my back. Even using the lumbar support properly I was in pain after half an hour.

People need to test drive as many different cars as possible and make adjustments to the seats and mirrors. Don't ever let a salesman rush you. Don't wait till the end of the day to go shopping. Give yourself as much time as you need. This is the second biggest investment you will make after buying a home. If after you test drive a car you aren't sure, walk away. Go to some of the car shows. It's a great place to see all the new models and sit in them. See how they feel then go to the dealer and test drive a few. If after a half hour are aren't still comfortable try another. Don't let yourself be sold by a good deal or a fancy sales pitch.
