Thanks Peggy. This article may prove to be a lot of help for me in the coming months. My son is a very large fellow, and can't even get into some cars, let alone drive them safely. I look forward to the second installment in April.

really done your homework, Peggy. These lists will really be helpful for those in the car market.

Not all cars fit folks the same; is it so we will go and buy new ones on occasion looking for the right vehicle like we shop for shoes? I wonder what body size demographics fit into the decision when automakers design a new model? It would be interesting to know.

Just a thought.

Dan, I hope you find the information useful.

Jerri, some information I turned up says:"Federal regulations require car manufacturers to produce seat belts that only fit people up to 215 pounds. In other words, not all cars have seatbelts suitable for the girth-enhanced."
and
"...the standard they go by was set back in the 1950's when the average height was 5'11" and the extreem height of a regular consumer was 6'2". So basically anyone taller than 6'2" doesn't exist in the auto manufacturers demographic."

They do need to update their model, don't they? I'm surprised they are still using the old regs and new ones haven't been adopted.

I am 6'2" and I find your article very helpful. Thanks!!!!! I was wondering how the Eagle Talon stacks up in your list. Would I be able to comfortably sit in the front seat? Thanks for your help.

I remember my 6' 4" son test driving one and finding it comfortable. The only way to be sure is to drive it yourself, but I think it would be worth testing. My son doesn't have one, but wishes he did.

What about a 1990 Honda Prelude, would that be a good car?
