» mxrcn9 - Am I using the Patch correctly....

I just got my prescription and my doctor told me to start on a Sunday. This Sunday that I started was a week after my period ended. My period ended on Sunday, the 18th, and I started using the patch on Sunday the 25th. Is this information correct and am I using the patch right so far? If I am not using this correctly, what should I do??

i started the patch last sunday after my last period and stopped it on wednesday because it began making me really moody, nervous, and sick to my stomache. now its the following sunday and i woke up with blood on my panties.

could this be a withdrawl bleed or is it an infection or a sign of pregnancy?

I have been on the patch for three months now and I feel like I am incessantly gaining weight. Is this normal for the first few months... will it stop? I haven't had the constant hunger, breast tenderness, etc... Do I have that to look forward to as well? I would appreciate any suggestions! Thank you!

I started the patch Feb 2004 because of convenience well since then I bleed 3 weeks every month. Only one week without bleeding. I have severe cramps. Mood swings like you can't imagine. Cramps in my legs, tingling in my arms, chest feels funny, loss hair at the top and front(only 31), nauseated(thought I was pregnant and took 3 tests even though I never missed a patch). I just hate it. I was on the pill for 9 years then took a break because I was turning 30, 6 weeks later I got pregnant and had my daughter(3rd child 1yr, 12yr old and 10 yrd old)5-28-03. I went back on the pill in 7/03 then switched to the patch 2/04. I have never had any of these side effects and I only stayed on because I kept hearing it was going to go away after a few months but it didn't . It got worse. 8 months of continuous bleeding is ridiculous. I took my patch off Monday just past and will switch back to the pill when my doctor approves me. To all you that are doing great, good for you but to all that are not I would not recommend it to anyone!!!!!

I have been off of my bc for 2 months now and lately i've been feeling very moody sensitive depressed. I'm wondering if anyone knows if these are some of the things that occur after stopping a hormonal bc method. Has this happened to anyone else?

First I want to say I have been on the patch for about two years and have had no problems. In fact I got on the patch b/c I had been on the ortho trycyclin and due to not taking the pill at the same time each day and missing a day or two my mood swings where horrible daily and even worse the week of my period.

As long as I have been getting my period, even when I was to young to "need" birth control, I have almost been able to predict my period to the exact time and day. Except if I messed up on my pills but then I just new it would be late.

For the past two years I have been on the patch. I may run a day late on putting a new one on b/c of forgetting to get Rx from pharmacy. But my period regularly comes about noon Thursday (the week its due) and it is pretty much done by that Sunday. I put a new one on and every thing is just peachy.

Any how I have had my first problem> I decided to skip my period like I have before when I was on the pill. My best friends wedding is this weekend and I am standing in it, I didn't want to be all funky and have to be dressed up if ya get my drift. So I took my patch off Sunday but did not put a new one on until monday night. I have done that before in a normal patch cycle and was fine. But this Tuesday I started spotting! Is this due to being regular for so long and now the sudden shock to my system has confused things????? Please don't tell me I could be pregnant!!!!

Just some other things that may help you answer my question: I was between 185-208 lbs during these years of being on the patch I am back down to 188 so that fat thing should not have anything to do with it. I normally switch the patch form butt cheek to butt cheek occasionaly to a shoulder. It has sometimes creased or an edge has peeled up, it has even come off and been put back on and I have had no problems or changes. I also smoke and drink caffeine and have made no changes in other medications or eating that would cause a change like this.

To new people on the patch: I love the patch my mood swings are minimal ( just normal moodiness now!) I do get headaches but I don't think its the patch, migraines run in my family. My breast always get tender around my period time even before the patch. I minimize itchy spots from patch by moving it to a different spot each time. No hair loss and as for weight gain I don't blame that on the patch thats due to marriage! Sex drive is the same as always. And my breast did get bigger but I'm not complaining!

I was on the patch for about 5 months last year and on the 4th month i noticed my hair was thinning. I immediately got off of it. I remained off of birthcontrol to let my hair grow back. FOr the first two months it seemed like it was growing back but 4 months off of it i felt like i was loosing it again. can you loose you hair 4 months after being off of the patch? I recently got back on the patch after trying ortho tri LO ( lots of spotting i was on it for a month. My Dr. said that the hormones were to low for me) because i rather loose my hair than become pregnant. I am loosing it again now. Is there anything.. like Maybe Yasmin that doesnt call hair loss???? if anyone knows about this please let me know! I really dont want to go bald. Thanks!

yes I feel the same way I only got on the patch because I had my son and never wanted to have anymore. since I got on the patch my life has been hell. i have gain weight like 20 lbs when I have always been thin. i have bad mood swings I cry at the drop of the hat. and before I got on the patch I didn't have hips oh god if you could see them now. I want to get off the patch real fast. also the patch makes me so dang hungry I could scream my head off.
