I HAVE BEEN ON THE RING FOR 3 YEARS LOVED IT BUT NOW READING SOME OF THE STORIES THINK SOME OF MY PROBLEMS ARE FROM THAT. I NOW THIS LAST YEAR DON'T REALLY WANT SEX, HAVE HEAD ACES, WEIGHT GAIN AND NOW HAVE A ABNORMAL PAP WELL AND I HAVE PAIN WHEN HAVING SEX. IT REALLY SUCKS FOR MY HUSBEND AND I KNOW HE GETS UPSET AND FUSTREATED. I HAVE NEVER HAD BEFORE. WHAT SHOULD I DO OTHER THEN TALK TO MY DR. WHAT SHOULD I CHANGE TO? I have read a lot of the discussions and concerns people have had about the ring. Personally, I have been on the ring for the past month (first time user) I have noticed a huge change (decline) in my sex drive - which for me is VERY unusual, I am dry durring sex which causes burning afterwards. I always have orgasms and with the ring its like I have to work for it. I thought the vaginal dryness could be related to the low sex drive. A friend of mine had the same probs as I and the Doc said it could be caused from low estrogen. My friend actually became very sensitive and began to bleed from the dryness after sex. Could this happen to me if I stay on the ring? One other thing I am very curious about... how am I so dry when I seem to have an increased amount of discharge? (the nuva ring website said this was a normall side effect)-- posted by Cole726

thank you ladies! i basically love everything about nuvaring i have been on BC for years and years and always encountered discomfort from pills to pathces to now the ring and i have NO! sex drive- nonexistent!it disappeared w/in the first month but i wanted to make sure over time it has now been 4 months... hardly even a sexual thought and this is unusual for me.. its just upsetting because the ring suits me so well in other ways.. im just happy to read that im not the only one...not on the packet information or anywhere on the nuvaring website do you read any side effects regarding sex drive, im fed up and not sure what to do, but this isnt cutting it for me, what is the function of a BC that you dont want to have sex on? except any medical reason, and even still its cruel! does anyone know of anything that helps? or a diff form of BC that is better?-- posted by VN7700

I just started the ring about a week ago. My Boyfriend came back in town Saturday. After... you know.. He said his penis was on fire which only lasted for a short while. I didn't feel too much discomfort. The second day afterwards He said he felt it again.. pretty bad. This time though I felt it too, in my abdomen close to where you would think the ring was. The burning uncomfortable sensation was SO bad I had to take it out to fall asleep. The burning went away shortly after I took it out. I've looked on all kinds of forums to see if this was a symptom complained about. I haven't called the OBGYN yet. Please help if you have any info. Thanks!-- posted by Em247

I just started the Nuva Ring yesterday after 9 years of taking Nordette (combined hormone BC pill). I'm not really worried about the side effects since I never had them with the pill but I am wondering about sex problems. Someone metioned something about a smell or something. If my bf performs oral sex, is he going to smell or taste something strange? Also, have many guys mentioned that they can feel it during intercourse? Thanks!-- posted by pisces38

In response to not getting your period posted by x_sicilian_x:You can keep the same ring in for four weeks. Do not leave the same ring longer than your ring free week. Never use the same ring for more than 4 weeks.
