» ttcweb - Re: No problems with depo

I am happy to hear that you and your family are doing well with Depo. The side effects from Depo have been experienced by many women that I have talked to, and these women never had a problem with other hormonal forms of birth control.

It has nothing to do with a pre-existing condition, it has to do with how some women's bodies react to the high amounts of progestin that is the Depo-Provera. Because a woman's health is in many ways ruled by her hormones, the introduction of Depo can play havoc with her in more ways than one.

I hope that you continue to have a good experience with Depo.

» snwbrdngrl431 - depo is hell!!!!

i really wish i would have found this site before i went on depo!!! I started the shot in sept. of 2002 since then i have been feeling depressed and after reading some other articles i am begining to believe it might actually be due to the shot. A month after getting my third shot i started my period and it didnt stop so i decided not to get the shots anymore, but my period still did not stop. i went to the doctor and he asked me a bunch of questions as soon as i told him i was recently on depo he stopped and said thats the problem and now he has me on the pill to once again regulate my period.
if that isnt enough my mom was on the shot and it did the same thing to her. She went in and had a ballon therapy done to take care of the problem. LUcky her. But since i am only 19 they cant do that because i might want kids some day. But honestly as of right now i would settle for taking everything out and adopting! What a pain in the ass!!!!

» lhollywood364 - Re: Am I poisoned by Depo?

In response to message posted by jenniferh02:

Jennifer,
I have to urge you that it is tdepoepo. I was just doing some research on a rumor thDepo-Proveraera affected African-American women more adversely than other races,(Just to let you know, its seems more like tdepoepo' affects everyone across the board the same, its just that it seems to be more popular among lower class families, black women comprising a large portion of that group)I came across your letter, and saw myself when I was taking the drug myself. Although my symptoms were not as severe as yours. Let me explain. I started taking the drug at fifteen when my mother found out I was sexually active. After about a year of treatment I began having the same symptoms that you mentioned, migraine headaches, nausea, urges to pass out. Yes even without the weight gain, as you also mention you did not have (You see, back then I was very slender and actually wished I could gain weight.) After about a few months running back and forth to the doctor, my insurance ran out, which meant I could no longer get the shot. My due date for the shot came and went, and eventually I started my period. I thought this was normal, until I was in the middle of my second week being "on". I ran to the ER as soon as I could, and told them all the symptoms. When I told them that I was coming odepoepo, they said it was normal and not to worry. So I didn't attribute anything to tdepoepo. Not the symptoms I was having, not the abnormally long period (That finally stopped after 4mos) The symptoms stopped too. Then later on down the road when I turned 17 I decided to get back depo-proveraera. After two shot all the symptoms came back, plus I would cramp once a month violently, but never a period. Even still I did natributeute anything to takidepoepo until I was told by a friend that her cousin is sterile because of what she went through widepoepo. I immediately got off depoepo and went through the same process as before, long first period, then nothing. The last time I todepoepo was after I had my son, I took it for two reasons, to prove to myself once and for all that it was tdepoepo causing the symptoms in my body, and I really did not want to become pregnant too soon after having my son. Sure enough I hadn't gotten three shots before the symptoms came back. Its been two years since I have takdepoepo, I don't have migraines as often (I didn't have migraine headaches before, but I think that is a little presedepoepo left behind.) and all the other symptoms have gone away, just as they did each time I stopped taking tdepoepo. I can't tell you for sure thDepo-Proveraera causes these symptoms that you are having, the only way to prove this to yourself by getting off tdepoepo. Problem Depoepo takes at least a year to get out of your system, you would have to be celibate from the time you stopped taking it (Your first missed shotiltil you either decided to go back on it or found an alternative. If you feel you can do that, discuss this experiment with your family. But you have to be sure that you can be celibate for that long, else you might end up with a family of your own.

» lpgrltennis - Slight Concern

I just recently ended having the Depo shot. Actually it was about a month ago I ended them. My doctor who prescribed me the shot told me that I would not have a period until 3-6 months later. Well, I ended up getting my period the next month. And first it was just spotting for a week, but the next week it was heavier, and it still hasn't stopped. Is this normal? Any advice would be great, thank you

» Amymichele - Current Depo user regret it....

I just took a Depo shot in October. I went into see my doctor because I had not had a period since July 17th of 2004. I had a tubal done 3 years before but I was still in the 5 year time you can still get pregnant. I thought I was one of the small percentages that had gotten pregnant. Many things pointed to it. My doctor said I had a bacterial infection (which could have been anything) and put me on 2 strong antibiotics and sent me home. I took the antibiotics and still no period. When I went back they did 4 urine pregnancy tests on me and decided to put me on the Depo shot (this is because when I did have a period it was so heavy that I could not go out my door). They did no blood work and no ultrasound to make sure of a pregnancy that was to early to be detected. 2 weeks after I took the shot my blood pressure was doing a dance up and down and I was having headaches like you wouldn't believe, the sex drive is almost deminished(not a problem before) and then I started to spot once again(this was one of the reasons that I went into see doc in the first place) I then started bleeding bad. More than my usuale period and passed 2 clots the size of the inside of my hand that contained grayish/white matter. My wonder is that I was really pregnant and the Depo just brought on a miscarriage. If there is anyone who has had any thing in this nature to happen to them or can give me any advice on what was going on please let me know. I will NEVER take another Depo shot as long as I am living.
