» Tracey75 - depo: now what?

In response to depo: now what? posted by ziggy123:

Hi. I'm just curious if you have ever gotten pregnant after being on depro for so long and if you have quit taken it how long did it take to get back to normal? I never thought I had any side effects either until I read all of this. I had the same side effects as you (depression, paranoia, weight gain plus no sex drive.) I'm wondering how long it will take to get back to normal? My last shot was due in Feb. and I just got my period today 6 weeks after I should of had my last shot.

» AussieLou - Yay to Depo!

I am shocked to read of others experiences! I started Depo instead of the pill due to being on epilepsy medication and it makes the pill ineffective. Had my two kids and have been on the Depo for 2 1/2 years without any major side effects. I get nausea for the day after injection. Weight is fine for not doing anything! I eat junk foods and do minimal exercise. My BMI is in 25 range. I don't think the drug has anything to do with weight, it's take away food and total lack of exercise. I don't get moody and think my sex drive is over the moon for 31 years old! Don't have painful or dry sex, if you have an orgasm prior to sex, (ask the gentleman he'll love it as it's sexy & polite - ladies first). I want to say this to help women! I love not having periods and even found a pack of tampons in the draw and realised they were actually over two years old! What a saving there, sanitary items are expensive. When i had my periods they were so painful they would incapacite me for the week and I got constant cysts, 3 had to be removed! Needle is so easy and i just feel after all these stories, I must be lucky so far. I don't want anymore kids so I think it's suitable for that. If you want kids, don't have depo, choose something else. Can't bag Depo, had to give it a 'Yay' for saving my sanity and hopefully do so for more years to come. Must say one thing thats only concerned me is knowing this depo injection is given to sex offenders who have been sentenced with 'chemical castration'. Mustn't do them any good and hasn't been around long enough to completely know what it is doing to our bodies either. Every drug is a worry, it's not natural but we have to weigh up the good and bad and decide. Cheers to all. X Lou.

» runner1012 - indentions!

Help, please i'm only 15 years old and i am/was on depro, although the problem was i started to see an indention in my leg, after the second shot, so my doctor convinced me to get a third shot b/c he didn't believe that was from the depro....well in about two weeks the indention became more visible and another one appeared where i had gotten my first one. Now i belive that where i got my third shot there is one forming. Does anyone know what will happen with the indentions or how i should fix it?? Please respond i'm worried....and the fact that i run a lot does not help me b/c i feel as if my muscle has deterioted in those three spots.

» Karens41 - periods

In response to periods posted by snowflake79:

Hi, I am sorry you went thru this too. I took ONE injection about 7 years ago. I immediately knew i was not myself. I gained weight, felt depressed and my breasts began to discharge breast milk. I have never been pregnant, so this was scary. I never had another injection. It took me over 4 years to get a period and my breasts leaked for almost the same time. I told my gyno who gave me the shot and she blew me off. I LEFT her and found another DR. This Gyno helped me and i am finally having normal periods, no breast leaks and Hubby got vascetomy!
Thats my story.

Please dont feel like a horrible mother. I work in the medical industry and I will tell you. EVERY drug has side effects.
It all depends on the individuals response to it.
I too get moody, and breakout. If you truly feel Depo is not right for her, consult your doctor.
You personally, have NO way of knowing what a drug will do- don't beat yourself up.

» lucky001 - depo vera

I quit taking depo vera about a year and a half ago and got my menstrual cycle back regularly about six months ago. We have been wanting to have another baby, but I have not been able to get pregnant. I'm probably just being very impatient, has anyone had trouble conceiving after getting off the shot?
