I have been on the Depo shot for 9 yrs. And I have experienced every side effect there is from the weight gain,to the loss of appetite,the constint bleeding,painful sex,foul odors,moodswings,and loss of sexuall appetite. I stayed on it becuz at the time it was worth not having children.I just wanted to share that I had no bleeding for the first 2 1/2 yrs acually no side effects at all.Then the bleeding started it hasn't stopped and if it does only for a day or two,then soon as I have sex it starts again. Having sex can be painfull at times, more than not.The other sides started about 3-4yrs later and progressed from there. The bad part about it is when I asked my doc about it he said it was normal AT FIRST. Now he is just starting to admit all of the unknown factors to me. My last shot was Oct. and I am still having all of the side effects. Noone knows how long they will last. It's differnt for everyone. I am glad that it is all working out for you right now,but beware for the future.Good Luck on your future.

I have been off the shot for 4 mths. And I am still having all of the sides. Exspecially the bleeding. I feel like i'v been bleeding for at least 6yrs. I got the cramps and every thing to go right along with it. And even when I wasn't bleeding I still had the painfull cramping. The doc told me it was becuz i had my children back to back but if others are suffering my same conditions then that couldn't be the only reason if it is a reason at all. I am now tring to find another b.c. to start . I am very nervous becuz you dont really know what other drugs are safe to take with Depo still in your system. I mean if they didnt tell us about the sides when taking this what makes us think they will really know what will happen if we mix something else with it. Also I dont want to go though this same thing again. Please help!

my 1st shot of depho was way back Oct 2004.,, and then i didn't go 4 the second shot 4 i gained sooo much weight. But i decided again to try to have another shot just last nov 2005, and then take the second shot just recently. so far the headaches are tolerable and the mood swings are quite controllable but my major concern is that i'm having a bad odor that is coming from my you know where( even f i use feminine wash daily or after urinating)...i don't know f 8's part of the side effects from the depho.. we're planning to have a baby again next year ;; i hope that there would be no problems that would f that time comes.. pls. f anyone could suggest to me what other birth control that would be safer & easy to use...Pls. kindly email me at jelynemae001@yahoo.com

I was on Deprovera for 9 months, I gained on average about 8lbs per shot.. I was 100 lbs when I went on this pill and now 9 months later I am at 130. I recently jsut went off and am having so much trouble loosing this weight. I have never had a weight problem until I did Deprovera... It was the worst thing I ever did. I was not even interested in the bedroom I lost my sex drive 100%... I am just wondering if any of you had this problem and what you did to loose this weight, I have been going to the gym 6 days a week for two months now, the shot should have been out of my system for almost 2 weeks not.. How long did it take for results? and did you loose all the weight you put on?

I dont know if this could help but for my self, I had my last shot of depo in july and lost the weight that I gain (10lbs) last month so about 7 months after. And for the sex drive, it got better in january, so 6 months after. You can make it but be careful, eat well, I found that it was helping a lot for me.

For now, I have no doctor because I dont trust mine anymore, because of depo. So, I have no one else to ask: My last shot was in july 2005, will I have any period, one day?
For my self, depo was great until after two years I strated loosing hair, like crazy and my doctor told me that it was impossible, that is the word he used, to be related to the depo!I just gain 10lbs that I lost and had no problem at all.
But now my body is trying to get that bad thing out and I never felt that bad, ever!! Im dizzy, I have nausea, Im tired all the time and feel like doing nothing. In hope others will read this before they even consider taking depo.

I am 30 years old and i am so glad i visited this sight. I snuck behind my husbands back and got this shot!!! I lost my sex drive and on top of that when we had sex it felt like he was driving a car in me he couldn't understand and neither could i. Now it's all coming together that DAMN shot well i am off it now, main reason is i gain 38 pounds in 3 months that's crazy!!!!! But i now know why the sex drive went out the window he thought i was seeing somebody else. I never knew the shot could cause painful sex that is so new to me. Thanks everyone you guys really helped me out.
