I Have had bad side effects with the depo shot. I am constantly sick. Its been so long that I honestly thought I had something majorly wrong with me...aka like cancer. I can't eat certain foods anymore without getting violently ill. I have been living in fear for months. I never thought the depo shot could do this. My doctor only told me about weight gain and lack of period. I don't bleed at all, I am glad. I get bad headaches too. I just recently started losing my hair... Its hard for me to talk about because it is bad. My hair is thinning like crazy. I also suffer from lack of libido and lack of lube. I am so glad i found this site.-- posted by Panda21 » CaliDiva79 - Depo Victim???? I just started taking Depo earlier this year and I was motivated by the whole "no period" factor which in itself is great. What I didn't count on was the continual bleeding. At first it was minor which my Gyno told me to expect. After my 2nd shot though it has been horrible. I have been bleeding continuously (from light spotting to full on menstrual bleeding) for almost 3 weeks. A friend of mine has said that it usually takes three to four shots for the bleeding to go away, but then I had another friend who says it went away with the second shot. I am non to thrilled with this continual bleeding, it makes me feel dirty and unclean. I'm due for my next shot at the end of this month, even if things do get better I am still considering getting off Depo and go back on the pill. Some friends have also mentioned oral contraceptives (there is one that begins with an "L") and a lot of them that used Depo before use it and love it. Does anyone else have any experience with oral contraceptives (besides the pill)?-- posted by CaliDiva79 » smithshayna - Re: Nuvaring side effects In response to Nuvaring side effects posted by mjonesla:Hello, I read about your situation and I am to switching from the Depo shot to the nuvaring. I wanted to know how has it affected your weight since the change? -- posted by smithshayna » smithshayna - Don't use it I started Depo shortly after having a baby. I was about 110-114lbs.,when I started the shot. Know its three years later and I weigh 141lbs. I have never gained this much weight or have ever been this big in my life. The shot also affects the sex drive severely. I have not had the urge to have sex in a year and a half. I do not recommended this form of birth control to any.-- posted by smithshayna » ziggy123 - depo: now what? I have been off depo for 4 months now after taking it for 7 years. I never thought I experienced any side effects, but now that I have read all of these accounts of other women, I realize that maybe I was experiencing side effects. (paranoia, depression, excessive weight gain, etc.) My husband and I want to try and have a baby, but I am now scared that I will have trouble because of being on depo for so long. Over the last week, I have started to experience symptoms such as cramps, extremely tender breasts, swollen breasts, headaches and nausea. Could I be pregnant? or am I about to get my period? or is my body just trying to get rid of the chemicals that were in my body for so long? Now I don't trust going to the doctor because they were the one who never told me about all the scary risks to depo, so how would they know about any of this? Any insight would be very helpful. I just want to be "normal" again. Should I be worried about my current symptoms? Is there anything I can do to speed up the process of getting back to normal?-- posted by ziggy123 » lilsuzy87 - Depro Vera Hi, i got my 1st Depro Vera injection in october 2004 then the 2nd injection in December 2004 i bled for 4 weeks, i was suppose to go and get the injection in February 2005 but didnt get it as i gained a lot of weight.I still have not got my period although in May 2005 i was experiencing pregnancy smytoms, i done 2 tests but they where negative, the same thing is happening again this month.Im just wondering could it be my period trying to get through but it cant coz of the hormone change in my body? Can any 1 help please?-- posted by lilsuzy87 » lynz_246 - Re: Re: Depo In response to Re: Depo posted by avril0313:O my hell i know right where your coming from its like the worst thing ever i got the stupid sore like thing from the shot and it wont go away. i have been to smanyny doctors and thedon'tnt know what it is. they said its just a thinning of the skin like you said but it hurts so bad to have sex it seems like it just rips it open each time and the only time it hurts is sex. has yourgoneon away? will you email me @ lynz_246@yahoo.com -- posted by lynz_246 » mazy26 - Re: I am scared In response to I am scared posted by Panda21:I share some of the same concerns as you, I had the shot in feb. of 2003 and almost had a breakdown. At first I didn't realize it was caused by the shot. Two years later I still suffer, I can't eat without getting sick, I'm still losing my hair, my libido still isn't back, I still get at least two migraine's a week. The hardest thing for me losing my ability to have a baby. -- posted by mazy26 » teenzombie - Depo Ive gained 15 pounds since being on depo and its made me break out more, but i had spotting and i went to see the doctor that gave it to me and she gave me birthcontrol pills to stop the spotting and when i was done with the pills i was normal for like 4 days and now all of a sudden i have really really really heavy bleeding and bad cramps. i got this birthcontrol through a school based health center and i wont be able to get intouch with some one from there for a couple of weeks and i wanted to know if this is a serious thing. if it is could someone tell me about it. should i go to my normal doctor?-- posted by teenzombie « Previous 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 Next » Please follow the guidelines set forth in the Suite101 Posting Etiquette when adding to the discussion. |
