» BettyPine - I finally made it here I love to read..and so does my 18 yr. old son. He orders from Amazon all the time. Funny thing...his book shelves that we had up in his room for the last 5 years came crashing down yesterday.I read a lot on the Internet of course. Magazines are great too...short and to the point. I scan the pics for art work ideas. -- posted by BettyPine » Donna_Dunn - Re: I finally made it here In response to message posted by BettyPine:Thanks for visiting, Betty. Sorry to hear about your son's bookshelves! I've just been looking through my house as well, wondering where I can squeeze in another bookcase or two. I have a spot in mind, but it would mean getting rid of the television -- might cause rebellion among the ranks! : ) - Donna -- posted by Donna_Dunn » Sunbear - Reading Hi Donna,This was truly enlightening and entertaining article. You certainly enlivened what could have been a dull subject. I really howled when you stated the following about being what you read--maybe: "Technically, this cannot be true. If it were, I would be a wealthy sleuth with pointed ears who collects antiques. And I would be younger. Much, much younger." Anyway, see you later. Gave this one a 5-star by the way. Means a lot. - Donna -- posted by Donna_Dunn » Donna_Dunn - Re: The five word rule In response to message posted by jerrib:Thanks Jerri, As a volunteer, I've found that the Five Word Rule (or Three or Two)is especially helpful for those kids who struggle with reading. They want to do better, so they often choose books that are maybe too hard for them. And then they get frustrated and give up. But when a teacher or volunteer spends the time to help them choose a "just right" book for independent reading, the focus seems to shift, and the kids find the books they can read comfortably and successfully. - Donna -- posted by Donna_Dunn
