» biogardener - Surprise!

<img src="/files/topics/902/files/fireworks1.gif" width=100 height=100 alt="Fireworks" align=right>Seeing this is your first birthday party at the Suite, I decided to light some fireworks. And you are the only editor at the Suite ever to get a surprise party. Everyone else had to join the BD Club first. You are just plain lucky to have enough family members here who do these sneaky things for you, and I am not telling you who it was.

You are the first Lincoln in the club, so I have not had to interpret your name before. I can only find one source for its meaning, and that tells me that it is of Latin origin and means "lithe." That is a surprise to me. The name does not look Latin to me, and I know Latin.

As for your surname Bittner, I know exactly what it means. German is my specialty, having taught it for several times as many years as I have fingers to count. You can look up its meaning in your wife's last birthday thread.

In response to message posted by biogardener:

What a great surprise! I didn't even know anyone knew about my birthday, but I should have guessed because all of my family also writes for the suite.

As for the name Lincoln being Latin, that is a new one on me! I never could imagine how you would be able to equate Lincoln to that language, but it just proves that I can learn something new ever day.

As for the sneaky part, all of my family members are good at doing sneaky things, so I guess I would have to thank all of them along with you. Thank you so much for making me feel welcome.

» biogardener - And another one!

I should have said, "and many happy returns" last year, because I decided to post this year's wishes on the same thread as last year's. And this year, I am sending you a valentine instead of a birthday card, because I love my homemade card and want you to enjoy it.

» jerrib - I was stumped for a minute

as I was sure I didn't send greetings for this year. When I read Traute's second message I finally figured it out!

So I wish you a happy birthday anew - may it be the best ever! Good cake, fun with your family, happy memories.

» biogardener - I stumped myself, ha ha!

This is too funny. I even stumped myself when I had another look at this discussion. I thought, "What is going on? Who cranked the dates forward at Suite101?" My computer says that it is the 20th, so how could I have posted on the 23rd. I actually got up to look at the calendar on the wall to make sure that my computer did not lose a few days somewhere, because at least I was sure that it is Wednesday.

The joke is on me. That is what happens when I do things in the middle of the night which I don't remember the next day.
