Thanks, Joy. I've never had the pleasure of monitoring a Cardinal nest. They always seem to locate their nests somewhere other than my vantage point!

If there were too many sad endings, I wouldn't be able to maintain my boxes. smile It's an indescribable feeling when I realize the nest that was full of noisy, begging babies is suddenly empty. Then, in a few days, I begin to hear those noisy babies harrassing their parents for food from the trees. The fledgling dees from this spring are all still alive and well. I saw (and heard!) all five of them this afternoon while out back. They are so adorable!
