One of my friends wanted to name her daughter Sue, but wanted to make the spelling unique, so instead of the traditional way, she spelled it the same as the Native American tribe, Sioux. Then she thought that wasn't unusual enough and decided to go a step further and use the French spelling, Soux. Believe me, you don't want to hear some of the mispronunciations and nicknames that poor kid has had to endure! You're absolutely right--whenever possible, it's best to keep it simple.
