» Red - welcome aboard...

Kristen,

Welcome to Suite101. I read your first article and enjoyed it. This one is also great. My grandson was named Brandon. It was a very unusual name at the time, but everyone seemed to use it for the next 5 years. LOL Now it has fallen in the top 10, I see. Thanks for the information.

Take care, Kristen. If you have any questions, just let me know.

Thank you! When I named my first son (3 and a half) I didn't think to check popularity, and his middle name, Jacob, is of course incredibly common these days. Luckily, his first name, Gabriel, which I had picked out from the time I was quite small, remains fairly uncommon still. :D It's funny how these things come in waves the way they do. My younger son's name (Liam) was pretty uncommon when we selected it, but it seems to be something we hear more and more these days. Thanks for taking the time to read my article!

Kristen,

My friend's daughter named her son Liam about 8 years ago. At that time there were very few Liam's. Now, it is a very common name here in southern Ontario. It interests me how names seem to go in trends. I wonder why that is? Is it because people see the names in birth announcements, or is there some other reason? Maybe you know.
