For the first time I started to see 'into' the world of autism after reading your article. You managed to paint a very clear picture of the different ways autistic people feel. I now look at the autistic children I have worked with in the past in a different light - I am beginning to understand why certain things caused them such distress.I also thought that the way you talked about blindness - not being able to cure it and not trying to teach visually impaired children colours, spoke volumes. Why in schools do we expect our autistic children to conform to the ways of our NT children? Thank you for opening my eyes!
