Tree Guide. What should I plant?

My husband and I have bought a 14 acre property in Baldivis. We are currently in the process of having plans to build our home drawn up and are hoping to start building there this year. There are no trees or bushes on the property at all. The water table is very high here so we need to plant lots of trees.

The developer was meant to plant at least 650 trees around the perimeter of the property but has not done this yet - the council had a deposit from them of $20,000 for the whole new area (approx 14 properties - all approx same size as ours) so they will probably not be able to put in as much as was first promised.

We need to plant many more trees. We have been told that mass planting will keep the groundwater down a little and this will also grant us some privacy from neighbouring properties. But what do we plant?

Any help in pointing us in the right direction for some help would be appreciated. Ideally we will be planting within the month and with tube stock to keep the costs down. Now we just need to have some ideas of species etc. Any help is greatfully accepted.
