» Gay_Klok - Gardens and Nursery

It is a few years since we have been to Macedon but whenever I was in Victoria, I would stay overnight, looking at private gardens and visiting [and buying!!!!] plants at "Dicksonia" rare plant nursery. Stephen Ryan, in my opinion, has the best small nursery in Australia. Unfortunately, he does not mail so to purchase his treasures you have to go to the nursery. Need I write, we always went back to Tassie with car stuffed full of plants!

Stephen, if not busy in the nursery, would ring up the owners of those magnificent gardens [growing conditions very similar to my gardens] and get permission for us to stroll through on our own or if something very rare was in flower, he would come with us. I was always in awe of the gardens

Last time we were there, I felt a change in the place. Somehow, the new homes and gardens, were giving out a different feeling. Gardens designed by a professional not planned with the love of the owner. Clever and smart architecture in the new house, too clever and glamerous for the district. I left, feeling sad BUT also with the car stuffed full of marvelous plants LOL
