I remember sitting in class during my first week of college with pad and pencil doing a simple empirical exercise looking around the room and listing what was observable.

I agree with everything you've written with the exception that you appear to have thrown all Christians in the same bag of ignorance. I don't think you can support that allegation and I wish you would try to differentiate those who are stuck in the mud of ancient tribalism and those of us who are reaching into the future for more complete understanding of what has been, so far, the unknown.
