Thanks Hawknut for discussing the Christian comments on this thread. Frankly, I'm starting to not see the point anymore. I wonder why Christians are much more interested about the only atheist column here than atheists are. I'm starting to see the point of me being here and writing here less and less. The only thing that keeps me going is that no other atheist has started a column on Suite 101 yet.-- posted by Franc28

I can't say. I never understood that myself.

Well, I would miss your articles and your rational and frank replies.

In response to Re: Re: Re: IFOMCAROTFLMAO* posted by Franc28:The Atheist Threads are interesting in that they can provide important information that might otherwise be lost. I think you make some good points. I watched Ms. Johnson quite often and think she makes some very good points.
Some of us haven't figured everything out as yet and we're open to new information. The turn-off is when the goons come around with their big sticks and start hitting the searchers over the head.

In response to Re: Re: Re: IFOMCAROTFLMAO* posted by Franc28:I've noticed that some of the regular atheists have vanished from this site. People like Bossel, Atheist101 and Polymath.
I think the reason so many Christians are interested in your articles are because you give them titles that arouse our interest, and when we read your articles (or your guest articles) we want to add our 2 cents.
You have a radio show, right? Have you advertised your articles on the show before? On the off chance you haven't I think you should. Not only would you get more readers, but you'll also bring more people to Suite.
Also, maybe you should pop in on the main threads every now and then. I haven't seen you there before and I'd love to hear you views on some of the subjects.

Just after I wrote that post I went to the other atheist discussion and found 2 of them. I'm glad Bossel is still here. I like him/her.

In response to Message posted by Craig93:“I'm not any the more clearer about what Atheism is all about, apart from tearing others down.”
Atheism is all about explaining our sense experiences (including this world / universe and its origins) in a consistent manner. It emphasises the need to have some general consistency between our observations and our explanations for them. In doing so atheism has realised that the concept of a god who is simultaneously almighty, all-knowing and all-compassionate is not only contradictory with our life experiences but also it is redundant because we can explain our experiences without using that unverifiable concept.
If somebody is interested in finding out whether we can explain why certain people claim that their prayers get answered (- I can remember Craig himself has posted in these columns how his prayers got answered during his honeymoon -) without using the concept of a god who is omnipotent, omniscient and infinitely benevolent at the same time, then please do some reading before posting here.
Believe it or not – our explanations are more consistent with the experiences of Christians than the explanations by the Christians themselves (or all sorts of theists for that matter including Muslims)

In response to Re: Message posted by atheist101:G'day Atheist101.
Your reply above is one of the best posts in this topic I have read. I would love to see more posts like it.
I know what I believe and why and can tell others why without tearing them down for their beliefs - though i must admit - I am guilty of doing so from time to time.
Thanks again.

In response to Re: Re: Message posted by Craig93:We really shouldn't be mean to the Christians... it's like teasing a retarded child, just not right. We should feel sorry for them and try to teach them the truth. I know it can be hard but it's the right thing to do.
